Julie Smith and Geoff Morgan have long been active in Dartmouth with a variety of businesses such as the Dart Harbour Sea School, the Orleans Gguesthouse and the Dartmouth Boat Hire Centre.

Their entrepreneurial flair continues with the launch of a new business this month, called Stays Afloat Ltd. along with their new business partners, Peter and Sarah Blackler, internet and marketing specialists and part of Insignia Creative Devon Website Design.

In an area that offers the visitor many delightful cottages, apartments etc, Stays Afloat is different.  It will offer static boat charter on marina moorings, initially in South Devon but eventually in many locations throughout the UK. Being on the water makes for an ideal holiday location with views to every window.

Stays Afloat at present operates out of Dartmouth, with other boats available in nearby Brixham. Although starting from a local base, Stays Afloat has been approached by boat owners from all over such that they are in negotiations with boats in Fowey, Southampton, Plymouth, Falmouth, Torquay and St Katharines dock, London, just for starters.

Each luxury boat sleeps  up to 6 people and is equipped with everything for a family holiday, weekend rest and relaxation, a romantic break, birthday, anniversary or other special occasion. All boats are heated with electricity hooked up; linen and towels are provided along with a welcome pack for your first breakfast on board. All have flat screen tv’s/dvd/cd/freeview/cooking facilities/toilets -some ensuite. Depending on the boat, there may be games on board, fishing gear and wifi internet access (an additional fee applies) and for boats based in the Dart, you are able to book a self drive hire boat to moor at the back of your charter boat for river use.

Imagine sitting on deck with the water lapping against the side of the boat, sipping something cool whilst the sun sets.

The charter itself is affordably priced and is a great alternative to normal holiday accommodation. Short breaks can also be catered for, so weekend hire is no problem.
