Information for Owners / Agents

Further to the success of our StaysAfloat Boats in Dartmouth, we are now looking at more vessels which could join our fleet worldwide.

Our StaysAfloat Boats can be hired out like holiday cottages but with the added romance of being afloat.

Depending on the size, interior and berths, your boat could give you a very good income, particularly in the school holidays, when our boats are constantly full.

As examples:

Our 40’ Motor Boat which is nearly 20 years old, but nicely refurbished sleeping 6 people, commands up to £1750 per week in peak season.

Our 40’ Sailing Boat which is nearly 2 years old sleeping 6 people, commands up to £1680 per week in peak season.

If you only want your customer to use your StaysAfloat boat on its own mooring and not take it out to sea, then your boat does not need to go through the coding process* which can be expensive, but simply needs to adhere to the similar regulations that a holiday cottage would. We can help with advice re whether you should code the boat or not and what the requirements there would be to rent it out simply as a holiday cottage.

The interest in our StaysAfloat boats has been fantastic and we are expanding this business going into next season and looking for Stays Afloat Boats World wide which we can add to the fleet on our website.

The cost for a 2 year subscription to add your boat to our site will be £200 but we are offering the first years charge free, to see if it’s for you.

All customers pay you one night’s rental as a security deposit, and I am pleased to report that all our customers so far have returned the boats in tip top condition, with a broken mug being the worst damage we’ve experienced!

We want our StaysAfloat Customers to get the best, so will be approving all boats before they go live on the site. Call us now to see if your boat meets our criteria.

Our charges will depend on the level of service you require from us. If you intend to manage the boat yourself, our booking fee will be 25% of the total booking price. If you would like us to manage your boat, which would include, meeting and greeting the customers, checking the customers off your boat and checking inventory and any damage, organising the cleaning (cleaning charge payable over and above our fee), we will charge 40% of the total booking price. (all charges are plus vat)

*MCA Coding process briefly explained: All boats which have paying passengers on board going to sea need to go through this process. This involves a surveyor checking the condition of the boat both internally and externally. They will check the hull, stability, wiring, hose quality etc. etc. and will tell you the modifications that you need to make in order for your boat to pass. You will also need to invest in safety equipment e.g. liferafts, lifejackets, dan buoys, etc. etc. and then have them annually serviced. It can be a costly process, particularly for older vessels. For "static charter" StaysAfloat Boats this process is not necessary.
